 Speculation.  Lots of applications showing wrong size?  Font size
 selection calculations by toolkits and applications are often derived from
 the X server declared DPI.  I suggest someone check with xdpyinfo that it
 hasn't changed between versions.  If it has, then it is potentially a
 waste of time to customise the font sizes of each application or toolkit,
 and it may be more effective to restore the X server DPI.
