 olpc-kbdshim running shouldn't make a difference IIRC. I have no problem
 with using xorg-x11-drv-synaptics, in fact I assume it's a requirement for
 the switch over.

 The pending issues are

 * olpc-kbdshim should either detect the device, or ignore it. Recent
 discussion about ebook mode seemed to imply that we didn't really need to
 rotate touchpad input, and that we'd silence or redirect tp input to
 /dev/null when in ebook mode.
 * better resume on touchpad stroke
 * #8901 - my naive speculation is that the protocol uses more data traffic
 than vanilla PS/2 and the EC isn't keeping up. We've had a similar issue
 with MPPT keeping the EC busy...
