 did your test include olpc-kbdshim?  (it may be that kbdshim simply
 ignored the device, since it only picks up REL-mode devices.)

 also, if it's the case that this protocol uses 6-byte packets, we should
 be sure and test on XO-1 as well, since there was a time when packets
 greater than 3 bytes were broken by the EC's internal latencies.
