 In OS31 (Q4b08, EC 0.2.03) , invoking "halt" used to power down the
 machine (last shutdown message was 'Power Down.') and green power light
 would go off.
 In OS8 (Q4b11, EC 0.3.00) halt results in 'System halted', green power
 light stays on, laptop may heat up if kept in bag.
