Comment:

 the SSP interface still had interrupts pending while we were initializing.
 fixed in f6f012f3caac68e831b10ea7bf1f409178073be8

 tested using forced EC events, with the "u2" command from the EC monitor.
 it was easy to trigger the crash by sending many such events during boot
 previously.
