Comment:

 Reproduced here, on units with old accelerometer, such as XO-1.75 B1.  The
 X axis value increases by one very slowly, and wraps from 31 to -31.
 Also, the ''rate'' emits 1600 and changing it has no effect.

 The same symptom is not seen in OpenFirmware.
