 Problem is most easily reproduced by:
  * placing a single finger on the centre of the touchpad at a 45 degree
 angle, which is the usual operating position,
  * while not moving the finger in relation to the touchpad surface, roll
 the finger left and right, while watching for unusual cursor movements.

 On six units here, the symptom reproduces on each within 10 to 30 seconds.
