Comment:

 My understanding of prelink is limited but Sam pointed out that this might
 be barking up the wrong tree; as prelink effectively maps each library to
 a 'global' memory address, we are likely to hit situations where the
 insertion of a library in the middle of the stack will cause everything to
 shift around in existing binaries.

 But maybe there are options available with reuse of the cache file.

 Sam also provided some initial feedback that prelink doesn't seem to have
 a noticable effect on performance (other than gimp startup) or memory
 usage, tested on XO-1.
