 It does. It says 'Information not available' in case it cannot find the
 lease file.

 FWIW, the outcome of this discussion in Paraguay was to display the number
 of days remaining.

 The target users for this patch are the primary technical staff, teacher
 trainers (in Paraguay we call them Formadores). They don't care much if
 the machine says 'Machine unlocked' or 'Information not available'.

 They do care, however, that it clearly states the number of remaining
 days, rather than them having to eventually arrive at that conclusion
 based on the current date.

 While we're discussing this, another proposal that was raised (and decided
 not to be implemented) was to notify the user explicitly if the lease was
 about to run out.
