 has anyone seen this on a 10.1.x release?  i see it too, on 11.2.0 os17.

 for the record, i the same error for many battery and ac-online queries.
 these all boil down to:

 {{{
         ret = olpc_ec_cmd(EC_BAT_STATUS, NULL, 0, &ec_byte, 1);
 }}}

 the error is easy to force with:

 {{{
   cd /sys/devices/platform/olpc-battery.0/power_supply/olpc-battery
   grep ^ *
 }}}

 i'll dig into it on the EC side tomorrow.
