 yes, i suggested that mavrothal open this ticket, because i was hoping to
 preserve the logs he's accumulated, so someone else could look at them if
 they wished.  the theory that jumpiness is uptime dependendent ("it
 usually takes 5-10 minutes before any spews are detected") is interesting,
 along with power-cycling as a means to calm it down, and shouldn't be
 dismissed.  i realize that there may be absolutely nothing we can do, in
 real-world terms, with this information.

 this is also the first attempt at quantifying the effect of tape or film
 applied to the touchpad.  whether the results are statistically
 significant, i don't know.

 re: the paint activity drawing that was attached -- i think we have no
 shortage of methods of causing jumpiness.
