 Thanks for the patch. A better approach to fixing this would be to keep
 the implementation details inside sugar itself - that is, modify sugar-
 install-bundle to do the necessary magic, and then make olpc-os-builder
 use that for installing activities.

 It's not clear from the comments above if sugar-install-bundle is fixed in
 this respect or if there is work left to do.
