 Well, you did almost all the work, I have tested it, and have a few
 comments.

 * If I apply set_window_title.patch and
 do_no_cache_the_activity_tray_palette.patch, I do not need
 listen_for_name_change_in_shell_model.patch, right? Tested and working

 * Your patch make_nm_activity_palette_on_demand.patch does not apply in my
 tree. I tried with mainline HEAD too. If is useful I attach a patch with
 (hopefully) your changes applied in mainline HEAD (and tested)
