 I ran the above test case for 10min on an XO-1 11.2.0 os23 without a hang.
 I've also had Clock-6 running for 3 hours speaking the time without it
 stalling or leaving any rogue background processes. There are lots of non-
 fatal alsa errors returned every time espeak is called, I'll add them in a
 following comment, but looks like espeak stability in os23 is very much
 improved - many thanks for the update!
