 XO 1.75 A3 #53 (as well as maybe another) will repeatedly attempt to
 initialize itself without ever powering on the display if external power
 is present.  I have tried multiple AC power supplies and it doesn't matter
 which one is used.  The presence of or charging state of a battery does
 not seem to matter either.

 When this happens the XO will flash its power light followed by a red
 battery light in rapid succession, then turn both off.

 OFW Q4A13k is loaded.  The main loop from the EC's perspective looks like:

 It may or may not help for reproduction if an external SD card is
 installed in the XO, but it does not seem necessary to have one to enter
 this loop (at least with green XO power supplies).
