Comment(by wad):

 Given the memory chip being used (K4B1G0846G-BCH9), it specs a CAS latency
 of 9 cycles of 1.5 nS (1333 MHz operation).  We actually use a 2.5 nS
 cycle time, which implies that we should be using a CAS latency of 6
 cycles.  As this was reduced to 4 in the latest memory configuration, this
 might be our problem.
