Comment:

 Status to me here is:

 The information in the activity instance with 'max_participants' can not
 be accessed from the shell (this determines whether we make the share
 button sensible or not). So there is not an easy and quick fix.

 Another option might be to add the information whether an activity is
 sharable to the activity.info file, this would at least be accessible by
 the shell.
