 Either way is fine as long as you take care of it. I can't move
 public_rpms out of the way easily, just wanted to make sure that you
 wanted it included.

 As for the general approach, I find that going upstream first (after a
 little developer testing) takes less time overall because often upstream
 gets you to make changes which invalidate your earlier testing. It also
 means its harder to forget about, and upstream eyes are good at finding
 bugs.

 Please post URLs to the upstream submission here when done. IIRC for
 xkeyboard-config the preferred way is to put patches on freedesktop
 bugzilla.
