 Simon points out this is fixed with a much better fix (which traps the gtk
 error, effectively handling the race cond) in sugar-toolkit master.

 So backported the better wm.py fix from master. The shell.py fix is
 relevant, with additional logging to help activity authors keep an eye on
 unintended window creation/switching.
