Comment(by Quozl):

 Effects of this symptom include:
  * no detection of test fail report, (since the fail.log cannot be
 written),
  * no creation of .tar.gz file,
  * kern.log is abbreviated to the point just prior to the failure,
  * no useful evidence can be found on the filesystem afterwards.

 However, /bootpart remains writeable, because it is not being written to.
