Comment:

 Reproduced.

 The abnormal icons shown in the photograph only occur in my tests if the
 screen is rotated since the laptop booted.  This appears to be an X window
 system problem.

 TamTamSynthLab does indeed play the sound as a result of ctrl/q shortcut.
 But not using the stop button.  This is an activity problem.

 I was unable to reproduce a system hang.
