 i've observed the following on 3 laptops now:  the cursor begins to
 "wander" on its own as soon as its put into ebook configuration.  this can
 be observed both in OFW with "test /mouse" or under X.  can you see if
 your "jumpy" touchpad machine does that?  (or any of your 1.75 machines --
 i forget whether you have more than one.)
