 i think due to flashing q4b08 with "flash!" while disconnected from line
 power, i ended up running with EC version 0.2.02 (i.e., the auto-flash of
 the EC didn't happen).  all was working fine.

 later, i rebooted in the presence of line power, and saw the EC being
 auto-reprogrammed to 0.2.03.  when the laptop came up, the board revision
 was shown as 1A1, and the ec-date, ec-name, ec-user, and ec-version
 device-tree entries were all missing.  i think these symptoms indicate
 that OFW could not communicate with the EC.

 a reboot cleared the problem.  haven't yet tried to reproduce.
