Comment(by greenfeld):

 I am not seeing this on my mechanical XO-1.75 with Q4B08/os41.

 There was an old bug which might cause Sugar to lose its binding to the
 function keys, but that would not be mechanical-keyboard specific.
 Earlier XO-1.75 builds were behind both in Fedora and Sugar updates and
 could potentially have this bug, but os41 should be largely up to date.

 In any case:

  * What version of firmware are you using on the XO-1.75? The latest is
 Q4B08, which has a keyboard fix in it. [[BR]] If you update the firmware
 you probably should also reflash the laptop with os41 or the latest to
 make sure that the first-boot configuration system sees the change. The
 Open firmware update also may be followed by an EC firmware update, which
 could look like the XO freezing for a few seconds followed by rebooting
 (known issue/ticket; progress does appear on the serial port).

  * Could you please attach (or just cut/paste) the contents of the
 mechanical XO's /etc/sysconfig/keyboard file?
