 can you elaborate on "don't work"?  do they produce no key code?  the
 wrong key code?  too many?  etc?   what if you add a modifer?  can you use
 them to get to a VT screen (i.e., ctrl-alt-F2 ?)

 if you can reproduce, and they don't seem to be doing anything at all,
 please switch to a VT (use the chvt command), and run "showkey" to see
 what the keys are producing, if anything.  you might also be able to use
 the "xev" command to see what they're producing in X -- it produces a lot
 of extra output, but you can redirect it to a file.  (you can start it
 from a VT, with "DISPLAY=:0 xev >somefile" before switching back to the X
 screen.)
