New description:

 linux hasn't had the ability to easily send commands to the EC where a
 response is expected until now.

 after implementing battery support in the kernel, i'm seeing a lot of
 these messages, and long delays while fetching results:
 {{{
 3047922:SDI cmdwait noack
 }}}

 i haven't been able to see this with OFW, so i think it's a linux issue.

 Wasn't this fixed?  ALS query at high rate seems stable.
