Comment(by wad):

 This can be alleviated by adding a separate diode isolating the ADET input
 from the DCIN pin on the charger chip.   The effect of this is to turn off
 the charger immediately when DC input is removed.   It also improves the
 performance when running with MPPT set to maximum and higher voltages ---
 it now stops switching when the voltage is too low to obtain any current
 from.
