 Seems to be a change alright.

 Test procedure used:
  * set two XO-1 units next to each other with a sound meter between them,
  * reflash both to 8.2.1, Record-59, and start Record in Audio mode,
  * record background, voice and musical instrument (a recorder),
  * note sound meter during background and musical instrument use,
  * preserve the recordings on a USB drive,
  * reflash both to 10.1.2, Record-86, and start Record in Audio mode,
  * record background, voice and musical instrument (a recorder),
  * note sound meter during background and musical instrument use,
  * preserve the recordings on a USB drive,
  * analyse recordings using Audacity Analyze -> Contrast, selecting
 background regions and the musical instrument region.
