Comment(by greenfeld):

 Yes; but the current plan is to make Ad-hoc networks on the XO-1.5
 prettier & easier to use in 10.1.3 as a replacement for mesh networks.

 See http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Features/Sugar_Adhoc_Networks for
 pictures. An XO-1.0 with 10.1.3 also will use Mayan numerals at this time
 for any automatic Ad-hoc networks seen with active participants; it just
 currently does not show all three by default like the XO-1.5 currently
 does.

 The old mechanism to create an Ad-hoc network still exists at this time as
 well.

 I do not know at this time if Martin plans to take the kernel patches for
 XO 1.5 to support mesh networking, in which case we need to decide if
 automatic mesh networking on channels 1/6/11 (defaulting to random?) or
 Ad-hoc networking on channels 1/6/11 (defaulting to ad-hoc 1, I believe)
 takes priority on which platform in OLPC builds. Documentation on this
 aspect likely should leave room for a decision to be made.
