It has been said that the software rotation solution will cause a
noticeable, measurable drop in battery life (although I seem to have
missed that email/comment). This is because it currently disables all
hardware video acceleration.
I have been asked to test this with a pure battery life test, as opposed
to rigging in a DMM to measure the current flow. Does anyone have any
preferred solutions to test this? I would imagine that most video
intensive solutions for an XO would also be CPU intensive, so we may find
the video battery life loss drowned out by the XO doing other things.
One would hope that if the screen was kept unchanged that there would be
no difference in battery life between the accelerated/unaccelerated modes,
as there would be nothing new to draw.
