 this is a result of powerd trying hard not to wake the laptop on lidopen
 events, as a result of the recent "no-wake-on-open" behavior introduced in
 powerd-29.

 (when we get the lidclose event, we blank the screen. if we get a lidopen
 event before we go to sleep, we abort the sleep, but lidopen processing
 doesn't do the unblank.  the next user activity will correct this
 mismatch.)
