Comment(by greenfeld):

 I thought DNS typically used UDP for clients, unless a large number of
 response items are expected (such as zone transfers ?).

 I have an apartment in a reasonably sparse suburb where there are
 relatively few APs (<10 & <=2 per channel) heard from within. I have
 brought 2-3 XOs home for testing in the past, particularly when trying to
 debug networking.

 To the best of my knowledge we do not have any RF test equipment in Miami,
 nor access to an anechoic chamber. The most I could tell you by bringing
 in a DMM is if the RF antennas/cables have a DC short (due to soldering?),
 and I would more likely suspect that a time domain reflectometer would
 show a cable break/open or incorrect antenna length/impedance on the
 defective items instead.

 Why the schoolserver question isn't found (unless it's detected via mDNS)
 I suppose should be a separate ticket at this point.
