 i believe that the film/tape selection should be all about a) thickness,
 b) durability, and c) "feel".

 clearly tape, or stickers, that are wide enough to cover the whole pad in
 one go would be better.  also, tape or stickers that can be easily
 replaced would be a win, assuming it's prone to wear.

 for the record, i've used stickers, post-its, and one of the plastic
 touchpad covers that OLPC had made at one point, all with (as far as i can
 tell) good results.
