On XO-1.5, if a user attaches a device to a USB port, and the device
provides current in violation of the USB specification, the laptop hard
 crashes.

That is, the DCON ceases updates (image is gradually lost), and the
speaker clicks about once per second. On removal of the device, the
 laptop reboots.

The hard crash occurs either in Linux or in OpenFirmware at the ok prompt.
No kernel messages are logged. No host serial port output occurs until
the device is removed, then "+" is emitted by OpenFirmware. The laptop
 boots normally.

The symptom does not occur on XO-1.
