 powerd tracing output goes to /var/log/powerd.trace.

 i couldn't even get "time netstat ... | grep..." to show 65ms -- more like
 under 20ms.

 the compulsive part of me still wants to use:
 {{{
 grep -q ": 00000000:14B2" /proc/net/tcp
 }}}
 instead of:
 {{{
 netstat -l --inet -n | grep -q ':5298 '
 }}}
 since it takes about half the time. (i promise to include the netstat|grep
 version in a comment, along with explanation. :-)

 BUT.  here's what i don't understand:  on my freshly booted XO-1.5
 (running, admittedly, os850), port 5298 is already bound, though i have no
 activities running at all.  i've added various rpms to this laptop, so it
 could be something special, but the socket seems to be bound by avahi-
 daemon, which is part of the base system.  what am i missing?
