 John Maloney replies:

 To reproduce the problem on an XO-1.5:

  * enable power saving
  * start Scratch
  * click on the "sounds" tab
  * click on the play button for the "meow" sound
  * let the computer sit without any activity for five minutes or so
  * move the cursor and note that Scratch does not respond (e.g. x-y
 readouts don't change), buttons don't respond, etc.

 The error log for Scratch will be filled with error messages from the
 Squeak sound system.

 Other applications and the sugar UI can still respond, although slowly.
