 I suspect that what the user did in this case was to "suspend" the XO by
 momentarily pressing the power button.  IIRC, to resume from that kind of
 "suspend", the power button needs to be pressed momentarily again.

 That brings up the question - how is the user to know?  I took a brief
 scan of wiki.laptop.org - most of the webpages there address pre-F11
 suspend;  I didn't come across a "guide" to using the power button to
 "suspend" the XO.
