 Right, that particular test was done with power button instead of lid.

 I tried on 2 other laptops and can't reproduce this now. I'd suggest
 writing a script to really stress test this though , something like:
  * set rtcwake timer
  * suspend with wifi powered down
  * wait a few secs for wireless device to appear
  * if no wireless, bail out with big error
  * repeat
