 The timeout is implemented by hardware and the register that controls the
 timeout length is already set to its maximum value of 2.8 seconds.  There
 is an "off by a factor of 2" bug in the XO-1's CaFe chip, so that the
 timeout value on 1.0 is actually 1.4 seconds.
