 I've seen a similar symptom on os114 a day or so ago while testing Xv.
 The X server has debug logging enabled at the moment, in that every frame
 of a video playback causes ten or more lines of output.  The output is
 ''duplicated'' into two log files in /var/log.

 This is the same problem we face when there's a suggestion to create a
 partition for /home ... how big should it be?  How will we manage the
 size?

 Perhaps Richard's unusual testing is to blame.  Do we need to support this
 mode of operation in the field?  ;-)
