 this is a result of the current contents of /etc/modprobe.d/olpc-
 psmouse.conf, and is hindered by our inability to force a protocol
 selection to the psmouse driver.

 if we just let the driver scan, it will find the synaptics driver on cl1a
 and later.  we don't want that -- we want the generic ps/2 driver for
 those machines.  but if we force "bare" on module load, then we don't
 select the HGPK protocol for CL1 machines.  and there's no way to
 determine the type of touchpad before we do the insmod.

 i'll think of something...
