 Thanks for the tests.

 The evidence you give suggests that the wireless device has been damaged
 by electrostatic discharge (ESD).

 I'll ask our hardware engineering team for advice.  You may be asked to
 return the laptop.  We'll let you know.

 Yes, os64 is the latest stable, but the latest development image is os125.
 The version of Linux was not very important though, since the problem
 occurs also in OpenFirmware.
