Comment(by mikus):

 I had just done an audio recording with Record-84 on os300+. For
 comparison, I did an audio recording with Record-64 on 802b6. My
 conclusion - the audio levels were in the same ballpark. HOWEVER - I
 couldn't make out either audio clip (unless I put my ear right next to the
 XO speaker).

 I do not have an audio meter. In both cases, I was speaking in a normal
 voice at about 18 inches from the XO microphone. The playback sound level
 (using Record) was quite faint.

 Installed Record-59 in an 802B4 system. Now I COULD hear (using that
 Record) the audio clip.

 ----

 I listened to both the Record-84 clip and the Record-59 clip with
 RealPlayer. There I could make out the content. My guess is that
 __playback__ in the more recent Record versions is not providing
 sufficient amplification.
