 i've already made patches for Distance to use the powerd inhibit API --
 the patch is attached to #10036.

 i didn't pursue it because the audio processing in Distance was expensive
 enough to keep powerd from kicking in for other reasons.  so i'd be
 tempted to try and ignore the ohm API failure, first, and see what
 happens.
