Comment:

 This ticket is now more than a year old.  I performed a similar test,
 using a current build.

 On F11-on-XO1 build x11, Mplayer would originally still not show a
 picture,  But after applying the #9590 fix, Mplayer worked properly --
 meaning the inability to play Video had been corrected.

 On F11-on-XO1 build x11, after applying the #9590 fix, Browse (with
 'olpc_episode4.ogg') showed a video picture with audio output -- but the
 picture was TINY, and its showing had pauses (dropouts).  The audio also
 had pauses.

 I no longer have Joyride on any system, so I can't compare the performance
 on (fixed) current build x11 against the performance on (working) long-ago
 Joyride 2602.

 I'll close #9158, as apparently being cleared up by the fix for #9590.
