#9886: brightness and volume keys do not count as activity for idle suspend
------------------------------------+---------------------------------------
Reporter: Quozl | Owner: pgf
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone: 1.5-software-later
Component: olpc-kbdshim | Version: Development build as of this date
Resolution: | Keywords: os60 os108

Comment(by pgf):
this could be fixed by having kbdshim inject a benign keystroke (e.g.,
right-ctrl, which doesn't exist on the XO keyboard) when it's intercepting
one of the "special" keys. that would keep the kernel and X activity
counters happy. kbdshim should only do this if powerd's powerevents fifo,
to which it would normally right activity indications, isn't present.
(alternatively, we could switch from ohm to powerd. this would require
different work -- adapting sugar and/or activities for configuration and
control of a non-ohm power manager.)
