 Whoops - I see that the problem I had was with F11.  Now Record-64
 launched successfully on a os11 system on which the #9590 fix to xorg.conf
 had been applied.
 ----
 Though Record now does launch on os11, it did not behave smoothly.  The
 image on the screen was much DIMMER than on 802, and kept "pulsing",
 together with shifting its "color balance".
