 > I just built 2.11.6 from the
 git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/xorg/driver/xf86-video-geode tag xf86
 -video-geode-2.11.6 and dropped it in, and I still get the same behavior;
all memory is allocated to the display backing for a 1940x1200 virtual
screen, so rotation fails when it can't get any memory. Are you sure DebXO
isn't just including a Virtual size setting in its xorg.conf?
 Quite sure:

 xo-bine:~# find /etc/X11 -iname "*x*conf"
 xo-bine:~#

I've also verified that Debian doesn't patch the source. The tarball is at
 [http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-geode
/xserver-xorg-video-geode_2.11.6.orig.tar.gz] in case you want to compare
 it against git.

 Version of X11 server:
 ii xserver-xorg 1:7.4+4 the X.Org X server
 ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.6.5-1 Xorg X server - core server

BTW: This particular machine has never seen DebXO, just plain Debian
squeeze (installed using debootstrap). So no leftovers are possible.
 It's a CL1/C2:

 [ 0.053156] OLPC board with OpenFirmware CL1 Q2E39 Q2E
 [ 0.055346] OLPC board revision C2 (EC=55)

I did the rotations using "xrandr -o <direction>".
