 as we discussed -- in order to try and find out what's going on, please
 add:
     ulimit -c unlimited
 to the top of your dortc script.  this will let this script dump core when
 it gets
 the SEGV.

 alternatively, to try it with a different shell, simply change
 "#!/bin/bash" to "#!/bin/dash" -- there is nothing bash-specific about
 your script.  but doing this may hide the real cause of the problem.
