 It is our design.

 Combination of copy-on-write semantics with respect to /versions/pristine
 vs /versions/run ... as a result of prelink changing the file, it is
 copied.

 Parsing the prelink log and totaling the size of each file prelinked
 results in 262,024,124 bytes.  So the increment is the cost of copy-on-
 write.

 Prelink in build would prevent that I guess.
